User-onboarding is the key & foremost step in ensuring the majestic overall product experience.

Let’s understand the 4 key milestones which act as a foundation for a successful user onboarding.

1. User Anticipation Stage

This stage captures the instance when the new users envisage a product as a solution to their current problem statement. This information is garnered by the user through sources such as Google Playstore/Appstore or in the articles. This stage always comes before downloading or registering the product.

2. User Achievement Stage

It encapsulates the juncture at which the new users are successfully able to unlock the products’ value proposition for the first time in solving their problem statement.

3. User Persistent Stage

It’s a crucial stage at which the users' lives are tightly glued to the product’s value proposition & have started utilizing the product on a consistent basis.

3. User Advocacy Stage

This stage usually takes time in becoming a key component of products’ success criteria. However, once the new users become the advocate of the product's value proposition, it ensures that the goals of user onboarding are successfully met.

Let’s unlock these 4 stages for WhatsApp 📩 :

1. User Anticipation Stage

Users get acquainted with WhatsApp as a product that can help to communicate & share information easily with their friends & families.

2. User Achievement Stage

Post installing & signing up on WhatsApp, the user sends their first message to their contact. They also receive instant feedback that the message has been sent successfully & received by their contact as well.

3. User Persistent Stage

Users start sending messages and media to their friends and family on the regular basis & find it an easy & intuitive means of communication.

3. User Advocacy Stage

After 3 months, users gain sufficient trust based on the security, privacy, and reliability of the platform & thus they recommend WhatsApp to their friends & family members.

The above milestones clearly exhibit that successful user onboarding is not just one step in the user journey but involves the successful completion of key stages as well.
