Mastering key skills and framework is an uphill task in Product Management. There are bunch of frameworks available online ,however they aren’t suited to the cognitive style of a particular PM. However , taking inspiration from few of them & then building upon them is unique skill that PM can leverage.

I have my own such framework ( in that order )which helps me at times to organize my thoughts and ideas better.

Let’s discuss it with a help of an example :- Clubhouse -Being a PM you need to improve Clubhouse.

Ideation

  • Ideas to get more users to signup
  • Ideas to get more users to join the rooms
  • Ideas to get more users to create the clubs
  • Ideas to get more users to create the rooms ( Private + Public )
  • Ideas to introduce additional ways to interact in addition to Audio
  • Ideas to introduce more ways for listen other than just LIVE rooms

Categorisation

  • Create variety of clubs
  • Personalised clubs
  • Follow other listeners in the room
  • Like the room
  • Trending rooms
  • Organize Listeners/Moderators sections
  • Raise hand to speak
  • Calendar view of the upcoming discussions
  • Explore options to see lists of rooms

Traction

  • Showcasing list of conversations which are LIVE
  • Inviting influencers /CEOs/Comedians to the platform to lure users
  • Weekly /Daily /Monthly Shows to create consistency in groups & audiences
  • Sending notifications for rooms organised by users whom you follow
  • Easy access to Public rooms as a listener
  • Creation of Rooms for beginners to make them understand Clubhouse
  • Easy to understand topics/chill conversations to encourage new users to participate and engage
  • Invite only model to create FOMO and drive users to Clubhouse

Scale

  • Launching across all devices & platform ( Introducing Android App)
  • Marketing it as “Serendipity network “
  • 10X rooms & speakers — moving them from podcasts
  • Launching recorded feature to encourage more users to listen
  • Launching interest categories for all age groups & personas ( Currently it is more Startup / Tech centric )

Looks pretty straightforward & obvious, right! Attention is a scarce resource & having our own framework is quite handy & useful at times.
