How to champion the Product frameworks ?
The Product frameworks are the most crucial arsenal available at PMs’ disposal. Frameworks are nothing but a structured way of addressing the problem using basic common sense. Every PM use them in their day to day practice but rarely they document it so as to reuse it when required.
For instance, PMs usually apply common sense & basic logic to arrive at the customer problems while conducing customer interviews, surveys, etc. However, at times the logic appear so oblivious such that we ignore its importance & relevancy in the future by not writing them down or creating a repository of it.
Organizing the framework is also a challenge task & requires adequate skills. Every situation or decision can be broken down into a structure & a story can be mapped around those steps.

Top 5 advantages of Product frameworks
- Enhanced problem solving ✅: It’s a well known fact that when we write, we tend to understand the problems more better & understand the nitty gritty of the context in a more refined manner. For instance, you have prepared a Product RCA template based on historical experience of drop in conversion rate. You can quickly apply those framework without delay & thus proactively take corrective actions.
- +ve spillover on PRDs 📄: Once you start writing & articulating the frameworks comfortably, you can deploy those learning in improving the PRDs so that they are easy to read and remain consistency across different features.
- Complete transparency 🪞: Since you are exposing your thought process in front of stakeholders in a transparent manner through frameworks so it results in swift feedbacks & thus reduce multiple follow-ups as well.
- No expectation mismatch 🚫 : Often point of contention happens when their is a sudden requirement throttled to the dev team & PMs doesn’t give sufficient visibility of such possible scenarios. However, if the PM does a complete walkthrough of the framework, dev is completely aware about the possibilities and can put forth relevant queries.
- Become a trust-worthy PM 🥇: Through frameworks, PMs show their subject matter expertise, decision making ability & problem solving approach. As a result, you earn the respect & trust of the stakeholders because now they have clear visibility about your thought process which is completely objective & mature in nature.
