Designing for mobile is no longer an option but a necessity. That results in focusing on mobile first in product development strategies. It implies understanding that mobile is different & not a desktop experience.
Example :- Mobile has limitation of connectivity , limited screen real estate , restricted battery life , etc. Similarly , it offers multiple benefits such as motion sensors , GPS , acetometers, & more too.
In this article , I will broadly highlight the 3 pillars of Mobile Design:-
Value Creation
Mobile apps are now dime a dozen, therefore it is quite crucial to distinguish your app & its features from the competitors else there are high chances that it might get lost in the black hole of the app stores.
There are 3 steps in value creation as mentioned below in the snapshot.
Make it contextual & personal
Mobile apps doesn’t need be a chore .They are personal & the functions can also be personal too. It can be made fun , customizable & knitted into the user’s lives along with the basic functionality of getting the things done.
Adding context to your functionality can amplify the user experience & make the app more meaningful & relevant. Answering questions like -: “ When will your user will access your functionality ? When they are busy or bored or occupied ? “ can help to understand the context better.

Gestures are intuitive way of operations, however you need to address two important aspects namely Discoverability & Two hand gestures while offering it to the users.
