As a PM, you need to test and validate multiple assumptions at a given point in time. It’s important to be nimble & iterate fast so those good ideas can be pursued & scaled quickly.

Here is the list of 9 techniques to accelerate your assumption testing process:-

  1. Deep dive into analytics 📈
It’s the most recommended & commonly used way to approach any user testing. It helps to surface and give clarity about the impact your new feature or product is going to bring based on historical data.
  2. Deploy tools such as Validately to provide exact test participant criteria and screening questions and they will hire testers for your moderated research studies in 5 business days or less.
  3. Integrate tools such as Hotjar on your product to hear from the users through the surveys. Also, you can add a real-time suggestion box on your site, Incoming Feedback lets users express frustration or delight about individual parts of your site, right down to the page, form, or image they’re looking at.
  4. Develop low-fi & high-fi wireframes 📱
Low fidelity wireframes can be an excellent way of visualizing requirements and getting everyone on the same page early on. High-fidelity wireframes will make sure that your design decisions are communicated to the team building the end product. Clickable wireframes make user testing accurate and won’t let your user experience suffer. Be wise & don’t miss to develop both of these.
  5. User interviews ⁉️
It comes to your rescue every single time to test your assumptions. You can have detailed interviews with the users. Understand their goals, emotions, pain points & overall experience with your product & what can be improved to make their experience smooth.
  6. A/B testing 🅰️/🅱️
You can skip the user testing and quickly run an A/B to have an early feedback about your hypothesis. This can be done for straightforward & simple design changes. It will give instant feedback about which variant performed better & the same can be scaled quickly.
  7. Fake Door testing 🚪
It is an easy yet very powerful method with which you can measure interest in a product (or a new feature) without actually coding and implementing the product itself. For instance, you create a landing page explaining the details about your service & drive users to that page & ask the user to register & once they submit their email id, you can throw a message that “ The service is coming soon. We will inform you once we are LIVE “. It has few drawbacks as well — customers feel scammed at times & it impacts your credibility. The key lies in ensuring that the testing period is very brief & the copy of the landing page is well written.
  8. Internal testing 👥
Fellow PMs, friends, relatives, family members be a good starting point for you to test your hypothesis as soon as possible. Even if they aren’t your expected TG, still this set can help you with overall functionality & the content.
  9. Create an MVP with #nocode tools ⛏️
Use glideapps to create a feature & expose it to the users to get feedback on the complete user flow & your offering. If you register any usage on your feature then you can automate it & scale it accordingly by working with the technology team.
